Hoppy’s Landing
Goulart Memorial Dr., East side of Long Island
Town of Fairhaven, MA
Location: Just off causeway between Sconticut Neck and West Island
Body of Water: Buzzards Bay
Facility Description: Public access facility. Wide open dirt parking for many vehicles w/ trailer.
Ramp Description:
Ramp consists of concrete ramp wide enough for two vehicles. There is no walk on dock. A 75 foot long pier attached to a floating dock for boarding.
Notes: Launching and hauling at this facility is difficult due to not having a walk along dock. Two persons and proper use of lines are recommended. Also pay attention to the hydrogeology. There are many rocks on the way to the open water.
The ramp is also hoisted out of the water in the event of a gale warning by mechanical means. If in doubt call the Harbor master.
I have launched several times from this pint and have had no issues besides dealing with the wind blowing the boat sideways while putting in and out.
Earl’s Marina( 508-993-860) is on the other side of the causeway as well as a bar/restaurant. They also have a ramp but you have to travel all the way around West Island to get to the open ocean. Night time jazz sounded great!
Woods hole is a straight shot across the bay from this landing.
Launch / Parking Fees: $7.00/ day. Drop tube with envelopes.
