Westport Public Boat Ramp,
Westport, MA
North East Trailer Sailors

Directions to ramp:

From Boston, take 93 South to RT 24. Take 24 South to Route 195. Go East on 195 for approx 1.5 miles to the RT 88 (Horseneck Beach) Exit. Follow RT 88 south for 11 miles, until you cross the bridge over the Westport River. Turn right just after crossing the bridge, into the ramp parking area.

Ramp condition and docks:

This is an excellent paved ramp, goood traction, grooved surface. There are docks on both sides and the ramp is very wide. Ramp can be used at all tides.

Caution: This is a tidal river, and has some strong currents through the tide cycle. These currents are noticeable during the approach, but do not affect the docking area. There are some rocks outside the approach that are clearly marked. Suggest you approach with GPS on detail. The channel in the Westport River is clearly marked out to Buzzards Bay.

Exit from Westport Harbor needs to be done carefully in strong SW wind

Parking and Fee:

There is a large, well lit parking are for trailer parking. The parking fee is $5.00 per day, payable at the "drop box" near the entrance. The lot gets very busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings, so a Friday night arrival is suggested. There is overflow parking across the street if the lot is full. Make sure your boat and trailer registrations are current as the lot is closely monitored by the MA Environmental Police. PFD use by children is also monitored.
